This bill amends the Health Promotion and Risk Reduction chapter of the Health Code.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

Section 1.
Section
26-7-3
is enacted to read:

26-7-3. Cervical cancer public awareness campaign.

S. (1) .S The department shall create a public awareness campaign to educate parents,
health

care providers, and women H. [
between the ages of 19 and 26
] .H about the causes

and risk factors

associated with cervical cancer and the prevention of cervical cancer.

S. (2) The public awareness campaign required by Subsection (1) shall include:
40b
(a) information about abstinence before and fidelity after marriage being the surest
40c
prevention of sexually transmitted diseases including the human papillomavirus; and
40d
(b) a complete list of side effects and risks discovered during drug trials of any vaccine
40e
developed for the prevention of cervical cancer or human pappillomavirus.

Section 2. Appropriation.

As an ongoing appropriation subject to future budget constraints, there is appropriated

from the General Fund for fiscal year 2007-08, $25,000 to the Department of Health for
44
establishing the campaign described in Section
