             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies provisions relating to the licensure of occupations and professions.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    provides that a person holding a valid license as an armed private security officer
             13      may also function as an unarmed private security officer without the additional
             14      license.
             15      Money Appropriated in this Bill:

             21          58-63-304, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2008, Chapter 382

             23      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             24          Section 1. Section 58-63-304 is amended to read:
             25           58-63-304. Exemptions from licensure.
             26          (1) In addition to the exemptions from licensure in Section 58-1-307 , the following
             27      individuals may engage in acts regulated under this chapter without being licensed under this


             28      chapter:
             29          (a) a peace officer employed by or licensed as a contract security company; and
             30          (b) a person employed by a contract security company for the sole purpose of operating
             31      or staffing security apparatus, including a magnetometer, magnetometer wand, x-ray viewing
             32      device, or other device approved by rule of the division.
             33          (2) In addition to the exemptions from licensure in Section 58-1-307 , a person holding
             34      a valid license as an armed private security officer under this chapter may also function as an
             35      unarmed private security officer without the additional license.
             36          [(2)] (3) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking
             37      Act, the division may make rules approving security apparatus under Subsection (1)(b).
