Legislative web sites are subject to monitoring to assure proper functioning of the sites and to provide security for the operation of legislative computer systems. The Legislature reserves the right to use any legally appropriate measures to prevent and investigate anyone attempting to modify, deface, delete, or otherwise tamper with or abuse a legislative web site, server, database, information system, or other legislative technology asset.
7. Utah Law and Jurisdiction
The information made available for public use on a legislative web site is from computer systems located within Utah and are for the use and benefit of the Legislature and general public. Any person who uses a legislative web site or attempts to gain access to information on legislative computer systems is subject to Utah jurisdiction. Any dispute arising from the use or attempt to use information on a legislative web site shall be determined in accordance with Utah laws and in the courts of Utah.
The Utah State Legislature ("Legislature") is committed to protecting the privacy of those accessing a legislative web site. This policy is intended to inform those accessing a legislative website about the collection and use of the personally identifiable information. For the purposes of this policy:

1.1 Information Automatically Collected
Information may be automatically collected and retained if you look at, search through, or download information from a legislative website, including the following:
- the Internet domain and Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using to access the legislative website;
- the type of browser and operating system used to visit the legislative web site;
- the date and time of when you access the legislative website; and
- which portions of the legislative website that you visit.
1.2 Personally Identifiable Information
Unless you choose to make your personally identifiable information available to us, the Legislature does not collect from you any personally identifiable information. The Legislature does not attempt to gain personally identifiable information about individual users and associate it with an IP address. Except when specified, you do not have to provide personally identifiable information to visit or download information from a legislative website.
The Legislature may ask for personally identifiable information from you in order to perform specialized services you request from a legislative web site such a listserv or a webwatch maintained by a staff office of the Legislature. Also, e-mail or other information requests sent to a legislative website may be saved for a period of time and used to respond to the request, forward the request to the appropriate agency, communicate updates to a legislative website, or provide the web designer of a legislative web site customer feedback to assist in improving the website.

2.1 Personally Identifiable Information May Constitute a Public Record
Information provided to or collected by a legislative web site may be subject to disclosure under Utah Code, Title 63, Chapter 2, Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA). All records that are prepared, owned, received, or retained by a governmental entity that may be reproduced are considered public, unless they are private, controlled, or protected records as outlined under GRAMA or are records to which access is restricted according to court federal laws or regulations, state laws other than GRAMA, or court rules.
2.2 Personally Identifiable Information Is Not Sold or Leased
Personally identifiable information provided to a legislative website or by e-mail is not sold or leased to private companies or political organizations for marketing purposes.

3.1 Data Security and Quality
The Legislature is committed to data security and the data integrity of personally identifiable information available from or collected by legislative web sites. The Legislature has taken precautions to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, or alteration. Any authorized third parties responsible for this information are committed to the same principles, and are required by contract to follow the same policies and guidelines as the Legislature in protecting this information. Visitors should be aware, however, that even though protections are in place, the Legislature cannot guarantee against the occurrence of hardware failure, unauthorized intrusion, or other technical problems.
The Legislature reserves the right to use any legally appropriate measures to prevent, monitor, and investigate any attempt to deface, delete, or otherwise tamper with or abuse a legislative website, server, database, information system, or other legislative technology asset.

Visitors may link to various websites from a legislative web page. The Legislature is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites.
3.3 Changes to this Privacy
