8:35 a.m. 2. Increase in Average National Assessment of Educational Progress

(NAEP) Grade 8 Reading Scores among Hispanic Students

Supt. Menlove will discuss potential explanations for the significant increase in

average NAEP grade 8 reading scores among Hispanic students from 2011 to 2013.



8:50 a.m. 3. Math Readiness for Higher Education

The task force will discuss math readiness for higher education, including a proposal to provide incentives to high school students to take Math 1050 through concurrent enrollment.





9:15 a.m. 4. Draft Legislation "Governance of the Utah Education Workforce

Alliance and Utah Futures"

The task force will consider draft legislation that establishes the Utah Education Workforce Alliance and amends provisions regarding the governance of the Utah

Education Workforce Alliance and Utah Futures.



9:45 a.m. 5. Local School Board Governance

The task force will consider whether to endorse, in concept, a proposal to clarify statutory provisions related to local school boards.




10:00 a.m. 6. Key Factors Contributing to High Student Achievement

The task force will review the key factors contributing to student achievement that have been identified by various stakeholders throughout the interim. The task force will consider adopting certain key factors as part of the task force report to be used as a framework for policy decisions.





10:45 a.m. 7. Strategic Plan Framework

The task force will consider adopting the updated Strategic Plan Framework for public education as part of the task force report.





11:00 a.m. 8. Task Force Report

The task force will finalize a task force report, which will include the findings and recommendations of the task force.
