Last year, the task force found that school principals
are one of the key factors contributing to student achievement. What is the
empirical link between principals and student achievement? What is the state's
current policy framework for recruiting and selecting school principals? What
is the Legislature's role in building a pipeline of effective principals? The
task force will hear briefings to inform task force discussion.

Modernization Initiative
One of the duties of the task force is to review and make
recommendations regarding the funding and implementation of a statewide
one-to-one mobile device technology initiative in the state's public education
system. Employers and others will address the following question: Why
one-to-one mobile devices, and why now?

Staff will provide a brief overview of education finance
in Utah followed by a presentation of various legislative options for
increasing or redirecting revenue for public education.
