International Airport
Representatives of Tac Air, a private aviation company,
will address issues related to the general aviation facilities at the Salt Lake
International Airport.

3. Performance Audit of the Utah Transit
Authority
"A Performance Audit of the Utah Transit
Authority," was released Tuesday, August 26, and, according to the Office
of the Legislative Auditor General's audit digest, provided "an in depth
follow-up to portions of the 2008 and 2012 performance audits of the Utah
Transit Authority (UTA)" and "also reviewed UTA development projects,
including transit-oriented developments (TODS), for the first time." The
digest added that "issues raised in this report focus on where UTA needs
to further improve oversight, bolster controls, and refine processes."

4. Report: Reimbursement to State for Damage to
Highways
The committee will receive a report from the Utah
Department of Transportation regarding the funds collected by the department
from persons held responsible for damage to Utah's highways during the past
three years.

5. Draft Legislation, “Amendments to Driver
License Records”
The Legislative Management Committee directed the
Transportation Interim Committee to study this 2014 General Session legislation
sponsored by Rep. Hutchings. In the June meeting, the committee expressed
support for the bill’s reintroduction in the 2015 General Session. A draft of
the new legislation will be presented by Rep. Hutchings.

Sales Tax Earmarks
The Legislative Management Committee has assigned the
Transportation Interim Committee to “Present the Legislature with possible
solutions to consolidation of the Sales Tax Earmarks in the Transportation
Budget.” A representative of the Legislature's Office of the Legislative Fiscal
Analyst will address both current and historical sales tax earmark funding
levels.

Transportation Funding Options
In late May, the chairs assigned each committee member in
pairs to lead the study of a long-term transportation funding option. Each of
these pairs will update fellow committee members on their funding study
progress.
