The commission will hear a presentation about the services provided for veterans and their dependents at the Salt Lake City facility.

9:30       3.    Disabled Veteran Housing / Service Dog Training Facility

The commission will hear a presentation from a Morgn, Utah entity that provides free onsite housing and service dog training for disabled veterans.

10:00     4.    Definition of a Veteran: Draft Legislation

The commission will hear a brief report from the commission work group and will discuss, amend, and approve or disappove the draft legislation, which provides for a uniform statutory definition of a veteran.

10:30     5.    Veteran Claim Assistance Disclosure Amendments: Draft Legislation

                       The commission will hear presentations about the processes for applying for benefits and for appealing of disallowed benefit claims by veterans. Following the presentation, the commission will discuss, amend, and approve or disapprove draft legislation that provides for regulation of individuals assisting veterans who are applying for benefits.

11:00     6.    Utah GI Bill of Rights: Proposed Resolution

The commission will hear a presentation about creating a Utah GI Bill of Rights that would parallel, where appropriate, the federal government’s GI Bill of Rights program. A discussion will follow with the purpose of identifying what state of Utah programs could be included or created to encourage and support Utah residents who join the Utah National Guard or Utah Air National Guard.

11:20     7.    Veteran Administration Services and Value to the Community Report

The commission to hear a presentation about the types of services that the Utah Veterans Administration Medical Center provides to the community, including training of 75% of all Utah doctors.
