The committee will hear about the history of the state's role in educator professional learning, relevant statutes, and policy options for educator professional learning.

10:20 a.m.      4. Educator Professional Learning – School District Experiences

The committee will hear from school districts about educator professional learning programs, and recommendations on how the state can support educator professional learning.

11:00 a.m.      5. State Role in Educator Professional Learning – Committee

Discussion

The committee will discuss policy and funding options for educator professional learning. Presenters will be available to provide input and respond to questions.

11:45 a.m.      6. Sunset Review – Performance-Based Compensation Pilot Program

The Performance-Based Compensation Pilot Program (53A-17a-163) was created to pilot the development and implementation of performance-based compensation plans in elementary schools. The State Board of Education awarded grants on a competitive basis over a two-year period. The program has not received funding since the completion of the initial two-year pilot program, and is scheduled to repeal on July 1, 2016. The committee will hear about the program and have the opportunity to discuss the program and take action.
