Chair Weiler called the meeting to order 3:19 p.m.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Escamilla moved to approve the minutes from the February 1, 2017, meeting. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

1. S.B. 147 Uniform Parentage Act Amendments (Hillyard, L.)


Sen. Hillyard presented the bill with the assistance of Ms. Lisa Stockdale, Director, Office of Recovery Services.


Mr. Bill Duncan, Director, Sutherland Institute, spoke to the bill.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Hillyard moved to pass S.B. 147 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

Sen Hillyard presented the bill with the assistance of Ms. Lisa Stockdale, Director, Office of Recovery Services.


Mr. Stewart Ralphs, Legal Aid Society of Utah, spoke to the bill.


Mr. Dan Duhl, Chairman of Legislative Affairs, National Parents Organization, spoke in favor of the bill.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Hillyard moved to pass S.B. 153 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

3. S.B. 156 Local Public Safety and Firefighter Surviving Spouse Trust Fund Amendments (Weiler, T.)


Sen. Weiler explained the bill.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Weiler moved to replace S.B. 156 with 1st Substitute S.B. 156. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

MOTION:     Sen. Weiler moved to pass 1st Substitute S.B. 156 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 5-0-2.
