Testimony received by the House Ethics Committee during its October meetings.

Records generated during the closed portion of a House Ethics Committee meeting are private records under Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act (63G-2-302(1)(d)). Even though all of those records are private, the House Ethics Committee determined that, in this case, the interest in favor of granting access to the testimony received by the committee outweighed the interest favoring restriction of access. Therefore, with minor exceptions, the House Ethics Committee voted to release the testimony from its meetings. It did not vote to release committee deliberations.
The minor exceptions to the release of testimony appear as redactions (blank spots) on the recordings. Those portions of the testimony were not released because: first, the committee determined that the interest in favor of granting access to that information did not outweigh the interest favoring restriction of the access; and second, releasing that testimony would identify data on individuals the disclosure of which constitutes a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. • Oct. 13 - Part 6 at approximately 17:29

No other testimony was excluded or redacted.

The meetings were taped using magnetic (cassette) tapes. Natural gaps occur for short periods when the tapes were being changed. Variations in the sound and quality of the recordings occur because alternative systems were used to record the meetings.
