Chair Perry called the meeting to order at 4:09 p.m.
1. H.B. 189 Theft Amendments (Shurtliff, L.)
Rep. Shurtliff explained the bill with the assistance of Mr. Reed Richards and Mr. Ryan Robinson, both representing the Statewide Association of Prosecutors. Mr. Richards and Mr. Robinson spoke in support of the bill.
Vice Chair Coleman assumed the chair.
Mr. George Chapman, citizen, spoke in favor of the bill.
Mr. Will Carlson, Chief Policy Adviser, Salt Lake County Attorney's Office, spoke in opposition to the bill and provided a handout.
Mr. Richard Mauro, Executive Director, Salt Lake County Legal Defender Association, spoke in opposition to the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Stoddard moved to hold H.B. 189. The motion passed with a vote of 10-0-1.

MOTION: Rep. Ray moved to pass H.B. 215 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 9-0-2.
