Provisions of this bill allows all legislators to be reimbursed for actual mileage between their residences and the state capitol, or a lodging allowance while in session and for authorized legislative committee meetings. Each legislator is required to declare their intentions in writing as to their preference of mileage, lodging or a combination. It is estimated that an appropriation of $25,300 from the General Fund in FY 97 and $30,200 annually thereafter will be required to reimburse legislators for increased lodging expenses. The FY 97 appropriation will be divided $16,500 to the House of Representatives and $8,800 to the Senate. The FY 98 appropriation will be divided $19,900 to the House of Representatives and $10,300 to the Senate.
