This bill divides existing funding into two new parts in FY 2000. It is important to note that the creation of an ATC from the Wasatch Front South Applied Technology Center Service Region in Salt Lake County would carry a fiscal impact in future years of a minimum of $3,600,000 to $5,000,000 in startup and annual operating costs. Land and/or building acquisition or construction costs will require an additional $6,000,000 to $10,000,000 within the next two to three fiscal years. These costs are based on the present budgets of existing ATCs. Future operations funding growth requests and equipment funding requests will occur on an annual basis. Maintenance and operations, facilities growth, and other enhancements will also periodically occur in the form of additional funding requests. Some costs such as those associated with facilities and or equipment could be partially mitigated through private sector participation.
