HB0103 - Acupuncture Practice Act Amendments

State Impact:
The provisions of this bill are revenue neutral for the State. The bill is estimated to generate approximately $4,000 in revenue to the Commerce Service Fund due to relicensing. An appropriation of $4,000 to the Department of Commerce will be used to defray expenses of processing licenses and providing industry oversight.

Individual and Business Impact:
Those not currently certified or those with a different certification than that recognized by the provisions of this bill will be required to obtain training costing approximately $10,000 per year for four years. Some acupuncturists may need to recertify and relicense to a different national certification. They must pass the National Certification Test for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at a cost of $400. Relicensing will cost $100.
