Fiscal Note

HB0142s1 - Addressing Physical Fitness and Nutrituion in Public Education

State Impact:
It is estimated that the bill will cost the State $200,000 in Uniform School Funds for FY 2002 and $350,000 in ongoing Uniform School Funds for FY 2003 to be appropriated to the Utah State Office of Education to develop and implement achievement testing of physical fitness and nutrition. Restrictions on food and beverages provided in vending machines and lunch room areas can be implemented at no additional cost to the State.

Vendors of foods and or beverages to local school districts and or schools may be required to adjust the variety of their products to conform to provisions of the bill.
