HB0196 - DUI - Probation Amendments

State Impact:
Assuming that there would be approximately 2,500 offenders covered by this bill. Impacts on the State courts will include: more trials, more revocations and resentencing, and added time and cost for issuing supervised probation orders and monitering provider reports. Cost to the courts is estimated to be $68,700 in General Funds. Local courts would have a similar Driving Under the Influence (DUI) caseload and costs.

Individual and Business Impact:
Cost for contracted probation will be the responsibility of the offender. The Analyst estimates those costs at $5.50 per day. Total cost to an offender will be determined by the length of probation ordered but will equate to approximately $2,000 per year (over and above any fines,charges, and surcharges already in effect).
