State Impact:
It is estimated that the Department of Public Safety will require General Funds of $97,000 in FY 2003 and $85,000 annually thereafter. The Department of
Corrections will require ongoing General Funds of $88,000 beginning FY 2003. It is estimated that annual fixed collections from offenders able to pay will be
$104,000 beginning FY 2003. It is possible that in future years additional space, equipment, and FTEs will be required to gather and manage the growing
collection of DNA specimens.
