Fiscal Note - State of Utah - 2013 General Session

SB0103 - Carson Smith Scholarship Amendments

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill requires an annual increase in the appropriation supporting the Carson Smith Scholarships for Students with Special Needs Program. In FY 2014, this increase is estimated at $242,000 ongoing from the General Fund to the State Board of Education. Assuming the number of students that have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the average scholarship amount remains constant, the annual increase to the program will be $257,000 in FY 2015 and $273,000 in FY 2016. However, the final cost will change depending on the actual number of IEP students and average scholarship amounts used in performing cost calculations in subsequent fiscal years.
