SB0175 - Assessment of College Readiness
State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill eliminates the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test which costs $1,500,000 to administer, and replaces it with a college readiness assessment to be adopted by the State Board of Education. The new system includes a battery of assessments and is estimated to cost $2,200,000. The bill appropriates $700,000 from the Education Fund to the State Board of Education to fund the difference.
This bill also appropriates $150,000 from the Education Fund to the State Board of Education to contract with a provider for an online test preparation program for students.
