HB0034 - Special Group License Plate Amendments

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
License plate start-up costs of $8,600 will be met by private donations. One-time $10 license plate fees generate $5,000. Of that amount $2,000 will cover Tax Commission distribution costs and $3,000 will go to the Transportation Fund. The Department of Heritage and Arts and the Division of Finance administrative costs of $200 one-time and $2,800 per year come from the General Fund. The $25 per plate donation generates $12,500 which will be distributed to qualifying organizations.

Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.

Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
A minimum of 500 individuals may pay $10 in one-time license plate fees in addition to a minimum of $25 in annual contributions to the restricted account.
