HB0102S01 - Arson Penalties Amendments
State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill will cost the Courts $4,300 ongoing from the General Fund beginning in FY 2014 for increased caseloads. They will also collect about $2,800 General Fund revenue from fines. If an offender is sentenced to state prison as a result of this bill, it will cost the Department of Corrections about $28,000 per year per prisoner however the number of prisoners is indeterminable.
Beginning in FY 2024 the amount of offenders processed by the Courts may decrease as a result of this bill, however the number is unknown at this time.

Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.
Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
About 14 offenders will pay about $200 per case in fines for a total of $2,800 annually.
