HB0211 - Concealed Weapon Permit for Service Members

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enacting this bill will reduce dedicated credits revenue to the Department of Public Safety by about $80,900 per year beginning in FY 2014. The Department of Public Safety will incur a one-time programming cost of $10,000 from the General Fund in FY 2014.

Local Governments (UCA 36-12-13(2)(c)):
Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.

Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
United States active duty service members and their spouses will benefit from the permit fee waivers by as much as $80,900 per year beginning in FY 2014. The savings will occur as follows: 915 out of state service members who now pay $34.50 for a new permit will not be charged and will save a total of $31,600 per year; 300 instate service members who now pay $29.50 for a new permit will not be charged and will save a total of $8,800 per year; and 2,700 service members and their spouses who now pay $15.00 for a renewal permit will not be charged and will save a total of $40,500 per year.
