HB0351 - Birth Certificate Amendments

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
For every 100 petitioners for changing the name of a parent on a birth certificate, the bill could cost and generate $2,500 in dedicated credits for the Department of Health. For Courts it could cost $1,200 and generate $1,800 in General Fund for every 100 petitioners. The costs are for staff time to process the changes to birth certificates. The exact number of petitioners is unknown.

Local Governments (UCA 36-12-13(2)(c)):
Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.

Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
Each petitioner will pay up to $145 ($25 to the Department of Health and $120 to Courts) per petition to change the name of a parent on a birth certificate.
