SB0202 - Charter School Funding Amendments
State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill will reduce the state contribution towards the cost of the Charter School Local Replacement program by increasing the local school district contribution amount over time. Under the current formula, school districts will contribute approximately $12.2 million to the cost of the local replacement in FY 2015. Enactment of this bill will increase the local contribution to $15.5 million in FY 2015 and approximately $20.6 million in FY 2016. At full implementation, estimates indicate the total local contribution may be approximately $34.9 million.

Local Governments (UCA 36-12-13(2)(c)):
Through enactment of this bill, school districts that have resident students attending a charter school will contribute more to the cost of the Charter School Local Replacement Program. Currently, school districts contribute between $48 and $271 per student. This amount may increase in the first year to $50 to $1,503 per student depending on the amount of local property tax revenue generated per student.

Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable expenditures by Utah residents or businesses.
