How to prepare students for meaningful discussions with a legislator

Read SCR 2, Resolution Recognizing Utah's Legislators Back to School Program passed in the 2008 General Session.
Review supplemental materials that legislators can leave with students K-12. See how well they correlate with Utah's state curriculum standards.
Find legislators, by address and map, who represent your school or school district.
Prepare students to get involved in the political process. Their ideas count and can affect public policy decisions for the better.
Schedule A Classroom Visit. Describe your lesson objective and ask the legislator how his/her involvement can enhance the experience.
Return completed evaluation forms. Your input is invaluable for improving the program.
Use Utah State Government - A Citizen's Guide as a reference tool in teaching secondary students about our government and how it works.
