LEGISLATIVE RESEARCH LIBRARY & INFORMATION CENTER
Welcome to the Legislative Research Library & Information Center, which falls under the umbrella of the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel.
The Legislative Research Library & Information Center staff has several functions. In addition to providing information about current and past legislative activity to legislative staff, legislators, media, and the general public, the staff also trains university session interns and coordinates Utah's Legislators Back to School Program.
The Legislative Research Library and Information Center staff provides resources and direction to those wishing to research legislative intent. Research services by staff are reserved for legislators. If you wish to research legislative history, legislative history is provided online, 1990 - ongoing. To schedule an appointment or to obtain instruction on how to best use legislative resources, contact staff at 801-326-1600. Additional resources are available in the Senate, House, other legislative staff offices, at Archives, and the State Law Library.
Legal advice and interpretation of the law is not provided by staff. Advising citizens how the law may apply to any given situation is practicing law, which is the function of an attorney, and is considered interpreting the law. If you want legal advice or interpretation of any given law, click here.
