As leaders of The Council of State Governments, West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris have selected "State Pathways to Prosperity" as their initiative for 2014. They believe the absence of qualified workers to meet the demand of companies is a cause for concern.

This edition of CSG's State Pathways to Prosperity newsletter features information about:

  • A meeting of the National Task Force on Workforce Development and Education and subcommittees on Child Poverty, Hunger and Nutrition, and Military and Veterans' Concerns to be held in conjunction with the CSG Leadership Forum, June 18-20 in Washington, D.C.;
  • A meeting of the task force and subcommittees Monday, Aug. 11, to be held in conjunction with the 2014 CSG National and CSG West Annual Conference in Anchorage, Alaska;
  • An upcoming CSG eCademy session on "The Hunger Crisis--Facing Food Insecurity in America"; and
  • News from the states on issues related to workforce development and education, child poverty, hunger and nutrition, and military and veterans' concerns.
