12-Steps, 12 Months: June

The month of June marks the true beginning of summer, the days get longer, school is out, and we look forward to the relaxing days ahead. June is the 6th month, so we look this month, to Step six. Step six says:

"We’re entirely ready to have god remove all these defects of character.”

This step touches on the foundation of our recovery, honesty and willingness. The words “entirely ready” means that we are now open to change and willing to let go and give a new way of life a try. This doesn’t mean that everything will miraculously change overnight, and all our faults will be erased. It simple means that we are willing and ready to work on change, even if it is just for today, or one day at a time. We cannot truly grow and move forward unless we are willing.
