Dear  Senator Jenkins :

Welcome to NCSL’s “American Legislator Survey.” This is part of a project to capture a snapshot of state legislatures and the people that comprise them in the middle of the second decade of the 21st century. Your response to this questionnaire is essential to the completion of this project. The survey asks a variety of questions about your election to office, your perceptions of the legislature and your opinions on some current issues.

We have contacted you previously via e-mail and letter asking you to fill out this survey. We are doing our best not to send this message to those who have already responded, but our system may not be perfect. If you have responded to an earlier communication, please accept our thanks and apologies and do not respond again.

This web-based survey, which will take about 10 minutes for you to complete, is for the purpose of research only. The information will be used in statistical analyses, and no individual responses will be identified. Your responses are completely confidential. Your name will not be published anywhere in connection with this survey.

To complete the survey, simply click on the link below.

Alternatively, you may access the survey by going to:

http://www.websrg.com/ncsl

Enter this passcode:  UCD6

Please do not share this link or passcode with anyone. You have been provided a unique, personal link and passcode meant only for you to use to access the survey. Both methods of accessing the survey allow you to exit and re-enter as needed until you have completed the survey. Also, any responses you have entered will be protected if you experience any computer disruptions. However, once you have clicked “finish” after the last question, you will not be able to re-enter the survey.

Your response is very important. Without your response and that of your colleagues, we cannot develop the full and accurate understanding of the modern legislature necessary for us to help you and your colleagues address the challenges you face every day.

The survey is being administered by Strategic Research Group in Columbus, Ohio. Please contact SRG if you have any problems accessing the survey (LegislatorSurvey@websrg.com or 1-800-341-3660). For other questions regarding the survey, please contact Karl Kurtz, NCSL’s project manager, at 303-856-1451 or karl.kurtz@ncsl.org.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

William Pound
Executive Director
National Conference of State Legislatures
