Becky Anderson:

Biography

Becky received her Bachelor degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University in 1994, where she played Division 1 basketball for four years.

She then serviced a Spanish-speaking mission for her church in Fresno California for a year and a half.  Upon completing her mission she worked with troubled youth in a correctional facility called Cornell, and shortly thereafter applied for a Master’s degree program at Brigham Young University and was accepted into their Master of Social Work program.

While obtaining her degree at BYU she had the fortune of working at Utah Youth Village where she remained even after obtaining her MSW in 1999 and her LCSW in 2001.  She worked as a Family Specialist for 5 years in their Families First program and then was asked to help develop a residential treatment center for troubled girls (Alpine Academy), which would serve families within the United States, as well as countries outside of the US.

After getting this residential treatment center up and off the ground, she met, fell in love with, and married her incredible husband, Justin Anderson in 2004.  After Becky and Justin were married she continued to work for Utah Youth Village, directing the affairs of Alpine Academy and helping to grow the nationally recognized program into five different centers, which generated thousands of dollars that was filtered back into the Utah Youth Village (one of the largest non-profit organizations in Utah).

She had their first child, Eli in 2005 and was able to take him to work with her, which lasted about 9 months, when she realized that she wanted to focus more of her time and energy on her own family.  She subsequently resigned her position at the Village and started a tiny private counseling practice in their home.

Eli, Justin and Becky were learning and growing together, when they found out that Isaac would join their family in 2007.  She would say that her little boys have been the greatest blessings in her life!

They all moved forward loving, wrestling, and playing all kinds of 'little boy' games!  Turns out she was made to be a 'little boy mom'.

After facing a personal tragedy, Becky is serving as the executive director of a non-profit organization called 'Anything for a Friend', which has been instrumental in bringing financial and emotional help to families dealing with life threatening illnesses.  Becky is pretty sure it's going worldwide! :)

We look forward to seeing you at the Brick Oven in Layton, Wednesday, October 1st.

All the best,

Davis County Republican Woman
