June 6, 2014 Meeting

Briefly

In its June 6 meeting, the Utah State Board of Education:

·        Postponed a decision on whether to apply for an extension to Utah's waiver under the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

·        Began putting together a high school graduation initiative as well as adding some course flexibility to the computer technology requirement.

·        Reaffirmed local district and charter school control over curriculum and pedagogy and asked for a new rule setting a formal process for parents and patrons to raise concerns over curriculum.
