Subject: RE: New GRAMA request - March 27, 2014
Date: Thu Apr 10 17:19:15 MDT 2014
I am emailing to let you know that I have found only mass form emails from what appears to be constituents for each of you that I consider to be responsive to this request. No other records were found.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
I received yet another GRAMA request tonight. It is the same request as the last two received during the legislative session that asked for records dealing with the “American Legislative Exchange Council” (ALEC) and the “Jeffersonian Project”.
The time frame for this request is March 3 – March 27, 2014 and it was sent to Republican senators and staff only.
I will be searching your email for anything that might be responsive to the request. If I find anything that relates, I will let you know before I send a response.
If you have any other records from that time period that may not be on email, please let me know.
The request that was made is below, for your information.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Pursuant to the state open records law, I request access to and a copy of all electronic records, including but not limited to emails, invitations, agendas, draft legislation, draft resolutions, handouts, and other correspondence, sent to, received from or otherwise mentioning by name the "American Legislative Exchange Council” (also known as “ALEC") or its related organization called the "Jeffersonian Project.”
Please note that this request includes, but is not limited to, all emails or other records which include any email or URL that does include the domains “alec.org” or “jeffersonproject.org."
The scope of this request includes members of the Republican Party in the Senate and their staff, and may be limited to records created between March 3, 2014 and March 27, 2014.
Wherever possible, please provide these records and documents electronically by email or CD. The Center for Media & Democracy is a non-profit public-interest journalistic organization, and the disclosure of the materials requested here would be in the public interest, greatly benefiting public understanding of the workings of government. As such a waiver of any fees is requested. If the waiver is not granted, we agree to pay any reasonable copying and postage fees of not more than $50. If the cost would be greater than this amount, please notify us. Please provide a receipt indicating the charges for each document.
If this request is denied in whole or part, we ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.
Where materials are to be sent by mail, they may be mailed to the office of the Center for Media & Democracy, 409 E. Main Street, Madison, WI 53703. [Note that our address has changed]
Thank you for your assistance.
