I am writing as a Utah constituent to ask you to please oppose HB 96. After watching one government funded debacle after another, I find it ludicrous this is even under consideration. I cannot think of one government program, including our current public education system that has made wise use of precious hard-earned taxpayer funds, or has even been able to use them effectively toward the purpose for which they were collected.
It is also deeply distressing to myself and every parent I know that our lawmakers are pushing to further take our ability to parent our own children away from us. Let us raise our children. Let us love and nurture them, especially during their early formative years. There is no evidence that early childhood education has ever done any good, in fact, there is abundant existing evidence that it has proven to be a complete failure.
In addition, I have raised 2 children adopted out of Russian orphanages. I can tell you that children who spend excessive amounts of time being institutionalized (and being put in a school rather then a nurturing home from an early age amounts to institutionalization) fail to develop critical synapses in their brains, which would allow them to be honest, functional, law-abiding adults. Institutionalizing our young children is a huge mistake and will create a generation of very damaged children and eventually adults. There is no substitute for a mother's care in the early years.
Please use rational common sense and refuse to pass HB 96.
