Dear Members of the House Education Committee,

Please vote NO on HB 96. Early education programs such as Head Start have proven to be counterproductive and a waste of money. Children need time to develop and mature before beginning academics, and we would do well to follow the example of countries such as Finland and Denmark who lead the world academically by waiting to begin formal schooling until 8 years old.

The data collection involved in this bill is also invasive and burdensome. We are raising children, not creating parts for a machine, and they are the architects of their lives.

Thank you for your time and your integrity in representing the citizens of Utah.
