Please oppose HB 96 when you have an opportunity to vote tomorrow morning.  There is flatly no need for more regulation and government monitoring of education and our children in Utah.

I know this bill is specifically allotted for early intervention for at-risk preschool aged children and though that has merit on the surface, it has more "piggy backed" contingencies like data mining that are much more concerning.  Also, do we really need to divert more funds toward surplus educational expenditures when our Utah education system is so underfunded?

I have three girls in public school in Utah and we need to be wise about voting for legislation that, as you are well aware, is difficult if not impossible to remove once it is implemented -even if it turns out to be detrimental.  Historically, programs that were started for one specific reason are still around today regardless of the fact that the original purpose has long expired.

Please please be wise and prudent in your choice tomorrow.

Thank you,
Lorianne Morris
