Subject: HB 96 Utah School Readiness Initiative
Date: Thu Feb 06 03:22:53 MST 2014
Body:
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the bill HB 96 which will be discussed tomorrow morning. I do not support this bill and urge you to stop this and future bills that will hurt our children's future. This bill incentivises data collection and additional testing for our small children. This will lead to more federal control of our children's education. Studies have shown that the head start program was a complete failure, this preschool initiative is following the same path of wasted money and social control. The plan as stated on the federal website, http://www.ed.gov/early-learning. “The Obama administration has proposed new investments that will establish a continuum of high-quality early learning for children beginning at birth and continuing to age five.” This is the beginning of a larger plan of complete control of our children from birth until they join the workforce. This program is called P20W, which is tracking children from preschool through grade 20 and into the workforce. Creating more unnecessary programs in a compulsory school system will inevitably lead to mandates for other children and additional funding needs. Please oppose this bill and all bills that aim to control our youth. Parents have always been the primary educators or our children, with the schools assisting us. Lets keep it that way.
