Subject: HB164 strips parents rights
Date: Tue Feb 16 15:41:08 MST 2016
Body:
Dear Legislators,

Please know that I -- and many other parents -- would be very very unhappy with
any legislator who favors, or fails to defend, a parent's full right to make educational decisions on behalf of their own child.

HB164 -- which removes a parent's right to opt out of SAGE testing for their child, says that SAGE test scores would determine student grades and student advancement, and which allows incentives for those who take the SAGE tests (thereby penalizing those students who do not) -- does precisely this.

HB164 would be bad for children, bad for parents, bad for families, and bad for the state of Utah.  It is a short-sighted, horrible idea.

Please give your voice against HB164.  Parents are watching.
