Subject: HB 187
Date: Wed Feb 24 23:59:15 MST 2016
As a citizen of Utah and a concerned, compassionate person I am saddened that HB 187 did not pass. Will you please explain your " No" vote on this bill. I understand that I may not know the complexities of the bill. I also know that death in a gas chamber can be a horrible and painful death for animals who we, as a society, are stewards over. I understand the need to euthanize unadoptable animals in Utah shelters, and I understand the economics of hard decisions. However, we cannot decrease our humanity in the name of 'prudent economics'. We must do this distasteful job more humanely if we are to maintain our humanity. Ask the shelter workers who have to complete this task how they feel. Please explain your vote.
