Voices for Utah Children

Dear Representative Lifferth:

I write to request to meet with you to discuss the new “Utah Children’s Budget Report 2015” released this month by Voices for Utah Children.

The report, which can be found on our website at http://www.utahchildren.org/newsroom/press-releases/item/632-voices-for-utah-children-releases-utah-children-s-budget-report-2014, compares state expenditures on children from FY2008 through FY2014.  While it is certainly the case that expenditures are not as important as outcomes (which we monitor as part of our Kids Count project), they are a critically important input worth tracking over time.  Our report divides the state budget for children into seven areas with detailed information about the trends in each area over that time period.

I would be honored to have the opportunity to meet with you to share our findings and seek your guidance regarding the best way of addressing the concerns raised by the report.

Thank you for considering this request and for all that you do for our state through your legislative service.

Yours truly,

Matthew Weinstein
State Priorities Partnership Director
