Janet Marsh 4750 W 1500 N Plain City, UT 84404-9710 August 31, 2015 The Honorable David Lifferth 350 North State Street, Suite 350 Salt Lake City, UT 84114 Dear Representative Lifferth, I write today respectfully urging you to vote "no" on Medicaid Expansion in Utah. Expanding Medicaid is a risky proposal that Utah just can't afford. While the promise of free funding from the federal government sounds nice, it's far from guaranteed. And if Congress ever decides to cut funding, it could force Utah into even higher healthcare costs, tax hikes, cutbacks to education, or all three! Even worse? This new proposal to tax medical providers would essentially amount to a tax on the sick, since any of these increased costs will inevitably be passed on to those receiving care. It would increase our healthcare costs, and it's just not a risk I am willing to take. Other states have tried these risky Obamacare Expansion plans and now they are paying the price. Illinois, Ohio, Arkansas and more are all facing serious budget problems after their plans to expand Medicaid went over budget. Utah just can't afford to take the same chance. Sincerely, Janet Marsh
