Date: Tue Feb 11 05:28:54 MST 2014
Body:

Again, I urge you to please vote YES on HB81.  HB 81 is necessary to correct inadequate oversight for the new SAGE common core test.  This test vendor recommended that 20 parent committees participate, while only one committee of 15 parents, has been allowed to participate to date. This goes against Utah Code, which allows parents to be involved in their child's education.

Parents have the Constitutionally-protected right and duty to exercise primary control over the care, supervision, upbringing, and education of their children (Utah Code Section 62A-4a-201).The state's role is secondary and supportive to the primary role of a parent” (Utah Code Section 62A-4a-201)..

HB 81 continues to protect test integrity via the current USOE secure review process, and non-disclosure. Please pass HB 81 out of committee.

 Sincerely,

Amy Roberts
