Autonomous Vehicles: On the Road to New Technologies
Self-driving cars are designed to remove human error by recognizing other cars and hazards and choosing the best route to reach a destination. Many see the production of autonomous vehicles as a possible economic boom for their state, but many legal and policy questions remain.
State and Federal Minimum Wages
In 2012, more than 75 million workers were paid on an hourly basis and of those, 3.6 million were minimum wage workers. During the 2013 session, 23 states and the District of Columbia considered bills to raise their minimum wages.
Community-Based Medicaid Funding for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
In 1981, Congress authorized the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver, allowing states to use Medicaid funds to pay for services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, the waiver finances an array of community residential services programs.
Improving Access to Medicaid Dental Benefits People without dental coverage are less likely to visit dentists, and are more likely to have poor dental health. Even for those with coverage, accessing dental care is still often difficult. Lawmakers are working to increase access to dental services for Medicaid-enrolled adults and children.
