I am a mother to 4 very small children. I would request that you please oppose the bill HB 96! I would hate for there to ever be a mandate on preschool for children. When Obama said that in his State of the Union address, my heart sank. I'm not one to get into all of this common core hoopla out there. I don't have time for it. But when he said this, my heart sank because our leaders clearly don't know the beauty of mothering children inside the home. The magical teaching moments that occur in daily home life are nothing that a teacher can mimic. I currently do mommy school with my 4-year-old and 1-year-old boys while their sisters (K and 1st grade) are at school. It is such a treasure to have these precious moments with my children. We are learning in the home. EVERY DAY. We go to the library often. They sit on my lap as I read them books in the beauty of the quiet morning. We memorize poetry. By age 3 my little boy had 4 beautiful poems memorized and 3 scriptures. He knows all of his ABC and we have fun learning them through art projects. I want them to have the ability to be nurtured in our loving home, where we can teach them. There doesn't need to be a mandate on preschool. Parents know children better than anyone else. I know what my child needs, and each one is different. I can give them individualized attention, where a teacher COULD NOT. The ages of 0-6 are very impressionable and I have the God-given right to teach my children in our own loving home according their specific needs.
I want my children to be able to teach their children in the home!!
Please, listen to the people, and OPPOSE bill HB 96.
