The Utah Association of Health Underwriters represents 1,000 licensed health insurance agents, brokers, consultants and benefit professionals in 4 chapters in Utah. UAHU members service the health insurance coverage needs of individuals and families as well as employee benefits needs of large and small employers.
The Affordable Care Act has made qualified agents more necessary than ever in order to assist consumers to research the increased number of options and help them identify the best fit for their specific needs.
In the past three years, our members have spent countless hours in Continuing Education classes, research, certification meetings with insurance carriers, studying for and getting certified to sell on Avenue H and the Federally Facilitated Marketplace—healthcare.gov—in order to continue to offer to Utahans the high level of expertise they should expect from insurance professionals.
Since October 1, 2013 our members have assisted consumers in need of coverage but confused and overwhelmed by a system riddled with problems. At the same time they have forwarded to the federal government, via our national chapter, feedback and suggestions to improve and facilitate enrollment.
UAHU members agree to abide by UAHU's Code of Ethics, which requires them to always make health care coverage recommendations with the customer's best interest in mind.
