2014 USHE Scholarship Report USHE's Annual Scholarship Report is now available. The report provides the Utah Legislature an update on the New Century and Regents' scholarships. Both scholarships are administered by the Commissioner's Office. While the total recipients for the New Century Scholarship remained constant for several years, the Regents' Scholarship continues double-digit percentage growth (average 54% annual recipient growth) and appears to be prompting aspirational behavior among high school students, parents and administrators as a model pathway for successful college preparation in high school. How many degrees and certificates do Utah colleges and universities award? USHE awarded 31,741 degrees and certificates in 2012-2013 (most recent data available), which amounts to about 3/4 of all degrees and certificates awarded in Utah each year. The number of degrees and certificates awarded each year by Utah colleges and universities has increased 18% between 2008 and 2013. Some additional highlights:
- The institution with the greatest increase in total annual degrees/certificates awarded was Utah Valley University, growing 34% (1,170) from 2008-13, followed by Utah State University and Weber State University.
- The type of degree that increased the most between 2008-13 was bachelor's degrees, by 2,520 awards. However, certificates of less than one year decreased by 75 awards during that same period.
Interstate Passport Initiative Transferring between institutions in Utah is seamless, thanks to efforts such as the Faculty Discipline Majors' Meetings and oversight by the Regents' General Education Task Force.
