Dear Representative,

We urge you to pass HB 342 by Representative Dana Layton.  Utah needs to be allowed to create it's own standards in educating our children.   The Common Core approach doesn't work for all and is flawed on many levels.  The reading requirements don't foster a love of reading from the classics because that is replaced by required reading of large amounts of informational texts.  The math standards are incomplete and untested.

As grandparents of many Utah children, we join the many concerned and frustrated teachers, parents (and grandparents) who are opposed to the "one method fits all" plan.

Thank you for this consideration.

Sincerely,
Gordon and Kathleen Gygi
