Subject: PLEASE VOTE YES ON HB228 FOR TRANSPARENT AND FAIR UTAH SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
Date: Fri Mar 07 03:55:13 MST 2014
Body:
Dear Legislators,

Please vote yes on HB 228!

Utah needs TRANSPARENT and fair Utah School Board elections.

We would not be in the educational mess that we are in today, concerning student data privacy, Common Core's experimental standards, stranglehold high-stakes testing nor subservience to the errant thinking and coercive grants of the U.S. Department of Education, if we had previously conducted truly fair, transparent school board elections.

Utah deserves representatives at the school board who truly have been vetted by the people.

For those who don't know the current system:  this is how the unfair, secretive, and non-transparent current system of election goes:

1. First, candidates have to take a questionnaire.  Question number one is, "Do you support the Utah Common Core?"  In other words, debate is not allowed.  Groupthink is everything.

2.  Next, candidates are vetted by a little tiny pool of insiders.  Not voters.

3.  Next, candidates are narrowed down by the governor to TWO choices.  Both groupthinkers.

4.  Finally, in what is a mockery of the meaning of a true vote, the Utah voters are permitted to select candidate A or candidate B.

THIS IS WRONG.

HB228 is the answer.  Support Representative Brian Greene's bill.

Thank you.
