Subject: Vote YES on HB 169 - Student Privacy
Date: Thu Mar 06 06:39:12 MST 2014
Body:
Dear Representatives, I urge you to vote YES on HB 169, the "Student Privacy Act". Students have a right to privacy (involving their parents where appropriate). However collecting criminal records, biometric data, social security numbers, etc is unacceptable. We see privacy breaches in state government as well as in the largest corporations and even in the federal government. There is simply no way to keep this data secure. Further, no student should have a record that follows him his entire life listing him/her as a violent delinquent for getting in a shoving match at school. Please support our students and their privacy. Thank you. Sarah Thompson Salt Lake City, UT
