There is no such thing as a limited constitutional convention under the Constitution. Once convened the convention makes its own rules. The first Constitutional Convention was assembled to strengthen the Articles of Confederation. That's what got the delegates to come, but it was a pretense. Once convened it became clear that the real purpose was to write a constitution. James Madison, father of the Constitution, WARNED against ever calling another using Article 5.
