Subject: Please pass HB 342 "Powers and duties of the state board"
Date: Mon Mar 03 14:48:56 MST 2014
Body:
Dear Representatives,

I ask that you pass HB 342 to put Utah on its own higher standards for education that are created by and for Utahns. I have many concerns with Common Core and its overreach, such as the loss of local control and parental rights in raising their children.  I also don't like that the state can only add 15% to the Common Core curriculum, locking our society into learning only a certain minimal amount of knowledge.  The data tracking that comes with Common Core keeps too much personal information that has no possibility of having a positive impact on a student's life.  It is more likely to be an anvil of bad marks hanging over their heads for their entire lives.

Thank you,
Rebecca Andrus
